After about 15 years of having backyard chickens, we made the sad decision this month to give them a new home.
About a year ago we started a vegan diet and were giving many eggs away to neighbors. Deviled eggs became my standard appy at parties and potlucks. We also froze and water-glassed some eggs to preserve for baking, but still haven't even used all the ones from 2024.
Along with the decreased need for eggs, we made some travel plans for 2025 that would require care for the hens.
An ad on craigslist was all that was required to connect with a fellow yesterday who has acreage, 2 barns and likes to keep lots of hens around on the property. I do hope my little friends will enjoy the space and interaction with the other birds at their new home.
